It was a clinical internship in which 10 dental students were selected as patients in Shahid Beheshti Dental Fire Temple according to the inclusion criteria. Their plaque and gum indices were investigated. People were divided into three groups and used green tea, chlorhexidine and placebo mouthwash for three periods of three days.
There was a gap between each period. Scaling and root planning were performed for each patient. After each period, the desired parameters were calculated and these repeated measurements were analyzed.
The result of research on the effectiveness of mouthwashes of green tea and chlorhexidine
The results were that the average plaque index in the green tea group increased from 2.2 to 1, in the placebo group from 2 to 2.5, and in the chlorhexidine group from 2 to 0.88. The reduction of the gingival index in the green tea group was from 1.1 to 0.6, in the placebo group from 1.1 to 2.1, and in the chlorhexidine group from 1 to 0.75.
It was found that green tea mouthwash can reduce plaque and gum index. There was no significant difference between chlorhexidine and placebo mouthwash in reducing the gingival index. However, the use of chlorhexidine to reduce plaque levels is more common than green tea.
Chlorhexidine and green tea mouthwash are effective in reducing the plaque index and have shown that they can be equally effective in reducing the gum index. In terms of gum and plaque indicators, green tea and chlorhexidine mouthwash had the least effectiveness after 72 and 24 hours, respectively.

If you are struggling with a lot of cavities, the reason is briefly related to genetics, oral hygiene and diet. The cause of dental cavities is not directly related to sugar, because bacteria acidify the oral environment and destroy the teeth and so-called dissolve them.
By observing these cavities, you will understand why mouthwashes are effective. Almost regardless of diet and genetics, oral and dental hygiene can be effective with the use of mouthwash because it will prevent more plaque and cavities.
